Shop and Inventory Technician

Job Summary:

The Shop and Inventory Technician will work with the shop team to complete construction tasks,
inventory, and general maintenance of boat docks. This is a fast-paced environment that can be
demanding but also extremely rewarding.

The right candidate should be comfortable working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional
infrastructure and products, possess an eye for detail, prior inventory experience, and have basic
computer skills. The right candidate should have a good working knowledge of wood properties and
other carpentry materials and the use of all necessary tools.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately count all shop inventory according to the inventory schedule
  • Inform Shop Lead of inventory count
  • Unpack, examines, and restock incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages,
    and correspond with Shop Lead to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Operates lift trucks, hand trucks, and stretch wrap banders
  • Measures building materials and spaces for accurate installation
  • Assembles sturdy and well-constructed dock framing
  • Incorporates fixtures like boat cleats, ladders, bumpers, fenders, brackets, and boat whips
  • Combines carpentry work with joining work
  • Uses power tools and other tools to cut and shape wood, metal, and other materials
  • Communicates with the rest of the construction team
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • One (1) year of carpentry or dock building experience – Preferred but not required
  • Comprehensive understanding of best building practices and job-site safety regulations and
    requirements
  • Warehouse/Inventory experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and sketches and fully grasp requirements
  • Proficient in basic math (adding, subtracting, division, and multiplication)
  • Accuracy in taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed for a
    project
  • Skilled in the use of all the tools necessary to cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other material
    (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements
  • Ability to assemble/build boat docks
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Basic understanding of computers, smartphones, MS Office, and industry software
  • Must have the ability to learn new skills, problem-solve, follow protocols, take initiative, and lead
    by example
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record AND reliable transportation
